It’s been a long time since Louis and Victoria Bove first opened the doors of Bove’s café to the public on December 7th, 1941. We’re fortunate that running our little family restaurant for so many generations has brought us great friends, a lot of fun, and truly wonderful memories. It’s allowed us to share our family passion for serving slow-cooked, wholesome, and heartwarming Italian food to hungry Vermonters and visitors alike.
So what we have to say next is not easy. After countless pounds of pasta and more meatballs than we can remember, we’re announcing the closing of our café on Pearl Street in December. We’ll be moving our headquarters and main operations to Milton, Vermont, where we’ll also operate a warehouse and distribution center. Our beloved café will remain our catering headquarters, where we’ll still be handling catering for private parties.
Today, Bove’s fans here and around the country are far more interested in bringing our pasta sauces, lasagna, and meatballs into their own homes to prepare versus visiting the restaurant. So we know the time is right for us to take our next big step. Bringing more Bove’s to more people around the country best positions us to serve a wider audience of fans for the next 75 years. Our decision also coincides with Dad’s official retirement and we move forward with his blessing.
December 23rd will be our final day as a restaurant. We hope that many of our neighbors, friends, and fans will stop by for a meal or two before we close. So dig out those gift certificates, build up your appetites, and come on down to Bove’s café! We look forward to seeing you and thanking you in person.
On behalf of the entire Bove’s family, thank you for supporting our business over these many, many years and for helping us make this next chapter in Bove’s history possible.
